Detailed Itinerary.

 

Day 1:  Arrival to Rwanda and Transfer to Kigali Marriot Hotel (5 Star)

On arrival at Kigali International Airport by Rwanda Air , passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our Company Representative with your Professional English Driver guide that will brief you shortly and transfer you to hotel for dinner and  overnight. stay at Radisson Blue (5 stars).

Meal Plan: lunch at Republican Lounge located at Kimihurura.

 

Embark on a comprehensive Kigali City Tour, delivering into Rwanda’s complex history with a visit  to the Kigali Genocide memorial. The poignant journey pays tribute to the victims of the genocide while providing vital insight. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at republican Lounge located at Kimihurura in Kigali , the best cuisine’s diverse flavors.

Day 2:   Kigali – Akagera National Park

After an early morning Breakfast at 8:00am leave for Akagera National Park which is roughly 3 hours’ drive away. You will reach the park and check-in at your Magashi Tented Camp later lunch followed by an afternoon game drive, or opt to relax at the Camp.  Staff from Magashi Tented Camp will help you for Game drive at 2:00pm and boat ride at 3:00pm as it is the varied terrain shelters wildlife species as well as species restricted to the papyrus swamps such as the Sitatunga and the sought-after Shoebill Stork. Notable plains game includes elephant, buffalo, topi, zebra, waterbuck, roan antelope and eland. Other antelope are duiker, oribi, bohor reedbuck, klipspringer, bushbuck and impala. Arriving and as you check in take a mini game safari for wildlife viewing and photograph.  Overnight at Magashi Tented Lodge (High-End) Meal plan (Half Board)

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Ride at Akagera National Park

The day begins very early at 6.30am for breakfast, and start the game drive by 7.00am. It is a great opportunity to catch the early birders and hunters returning to their hideouts. Expect great wildlife sightings including elephants, buffalos, giraffes, gazelles, impalas, lions, baboons, warthogs, bushbucks, topi, oribis, and leopards. After over three hours of great wildlife sightings, you shall drive to the lodge for a lunch break.

 

After the lunch break you shall go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema. The boat ride offers an opportunity for more wildlife sightings, more so the marine animals such as hippos and crocodiles and moreover at a very close but safe range. The lake has also a great concentration of over 500 bird species some of which include the shoebill storks, herons, jacanas, ibis, gonolek among others. After the exciting boat ride, dinner and overnight Magashi Tented Lodge (High-End) Meal plan (Half Board).

Day 4:  Akagera National Park – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Wake up for breakfast at 6.30am, check out and drive to from Akagera National Park, several stop-overs will be done to admire you the scenery while taking pictures for souvenirs, you will have lunch in Kigali at Mille Collines Hotel and proceed through the foothills of Volcanoes National Park for late check-in at Five Volcanoes Boutique (5 Star Boutique Luxury). Meal plan: Half board.

Day 5: Mountain Gorillas Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today you will have the rare opportunity to observe the famous Rwandan mountain gorillas (subject to gorilla permits being available). Tracking the gorillas through the forested slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Return to the Lodge for Lunch followed by Leisure in the afternoon.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Kibuye.

After morning breakfast, you will depart for Golden Monkeys Trekking to observe the famous Rwandan mountain. Enjoy Lunch at The Lodge before you depart from foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes and drive to the ‘beach city’ of Kibuye, the capital of the Western Province of Rwanda, home to rock beaches, peaceful islands and the lovely Ndaba Falls, which lie a short drive from the city.

Day 7: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park and evening Canopy Adventure Walk.

After early morning breakfast you will check out from your Lodge and drive to Nyungwe National Park. At an altitude of 1600-2950m above sea level, this mountainous rain forest reserve is rich in flora and fauna, with over 260 species of trees and shrubs, and over 100 types of orchid and giant lobelia alone. As well as incredible biodiversity, the park also has breathtaking views. Arrive at the Lodge for Lunch followed by optional Canopy Walk in the Afternoon.

 Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Have morning breakfast at your Hotel and then embark to a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approx. 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow hawk and regal sunbird. After lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure making use of lodge facilities, or explore the surrounding area.

 Day 9 : Hiking to Nyungwe Forest National Park and do the  Colobus Monkey trekking .

Day 10 : Transfer to Kigali Airport

After an early morning breakfast, by 8:00am in the morning, head into your Jeep find your way to Kigali, proceed to Kigali through Butare and you will have enough time to visit Butare National Museum , have lunch at a local restaurant in Butare, then continue to  the Airport thus the end of the journey.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland

We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

Day 2Zürich–Biel/Bienne–Neuchâtel–Geneva

Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

Day 3Enchanting Engelberg

Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.

Day 4Interlaken Area. Excursion to The Jungfrau Massif

An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Globus Local Favorite At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the ALPINE SENSATION, THE PANORAMA 360° EXPERIENCE, and the ICE PALACE. Also receive your JUNGFRAU PASSPORT as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
