10 Days Mount Rwenzori Hiking Tour
10 Days Mount Rwenzori Hiking Tour takes you to Rwenzori Mountains National Park is located in Kasese District in western Uganda. Also known as the “mountains of the moon” they arise an elevation of of 5110M above sea Level. It’s the third Highest Mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. Rwenzori offers the most adventurous experience of all in Africa characterized by Blue Lakes, Snow Fields, Alpine Highland Glaciers, Dense Bamboo Forests, Wildlife, and a Birders go-to destination.
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
We start our Journey to Rwenzori Hike after an early breakfast and set off from Kampala, travel westwards to Fortportal for approximately 7 – 8 hours. You will have a brief stop in Mubende for refreshing through the tea planations and a stop in Kibale Forest. You will continue the journey through the beautiful verdant rolling hills characteristic of this part of the country. Arriving early evening for check-in at Equator Snow Lodge
Airport pickup and transfer to Hotel Location.
Entebbe to Fort portal We start our Journey to Rwenzori Hike after an early breakfast and set off from Kampala, travel westwards to Fortportal for approximately 7 – 8 hours. Day 2. Nyakalengija (1615m) to Nyabitaba Hut (2651m)
Trek through Local settlements, Bamboo forest and Bushes.
Morning breakfast and Njia Driver will lead you to the Bugoye Rwenzori Gateway for a briefing and pickup of hiking equipment. The hike will start through local settlements, and through Bamboo, High Elephant grass and dense bushes. expect to climb rocks and Bluff, crossing river Mohoma then Nyabitaba Hut where you will spend the night. on the 5 hrs trek, expect to see some unique monkey species like the blue monkeys, Three horned Chameleon and lost of unique bird species and yess the beautiful butterflies.
Day 3: Nyabitaba to John Matte (3503M)
River Crossing, Slippery Moss covered rocks and Mt Stanely.
After breakfast, Move through the forest, crossing the Hurt Shafer Bridge at the conference between Rivers Mobuku and Bujuku. You will then pass through slipery moss covered rocks untill Nyamulenge rock shelter to view Mt Stanely and Mt Speke before arriving at John Matte Hut where you will spend the night.
Day 4: John Matte to Bujjuku (3900M)
River Bujjuku crossing and Jumping Tussock experience
After Breakfast, cross river Bujuku to the lower Bigo bog. This is an interesting experience jumping Tussock. steep section past the hut will lead you to upper Bigo which is half constructed. Lunch Break at the narrow stream of Bog edge. in the background view the majestic setting of Mt. Baker to the south view, Mt. Stanely to the West view and to he north will be our Dinner and overnight at John Matte -Bujuku Hut (3962M)
Day 5: Bujuku Hut (3977m) to Elena Hut (4541m)
Magical moss vegetation Trail to Scott Elliot Pass and Ellena Hut
Leave Bujuku to the newly created trail. steeply climbing through the magical moss draped on the ground vegetation about 14,345 ft (4,372 m) to scott Elliot Pass. proceed to a steepy section on a short strong ladder that will lead you to Ellena Hut a Base Camp for climbing 5,109m Margharita peak on Mt Stanely.
Over night at Elena Hut
Day 6: Elena Hut (4541m) to Margherita peak- Kitandara hut (4027m)
Margerita Peak (5109M)
Through the base of the stanley Glaciers reaching the summit of the third highest Mountain In Africa through three glaciers, slippery rocks, Ice, and very exporsed ares which are open on many sides.
NOTE: This climb is for only physically fit and technical climbers, climbing on glaciers, cross the stanely plateau acclimated to fog, altitude sickness, cold weather scrumbling up to the peak.
Over night at Kitandara Hut
Day 7: Kitandara (4027m) to Fresh Field Pass (4282m) to Guy Yeoman Hut
Overnight stay at Guy Yeoman Hut
Day 8: Guy Yeoman Hut (3450m) to Nyabitaba Hut(2651m)
Overnight stay at Nyabitaba Hut
Day 9: Nyabitaba Hut (2651m) to Nyakalengija (1615m)
Overnight stay in Fort Portal at Nkuruba Nature Reserve
Day 10: Fort Portal to Entebbe Airport
Depart Fortportal for Entebbe/Kampala
After breakfast your Njia driver will take you for a chilled drive back to Kampala or Entebbe Meet and Greet at our well chosen restaurants in Kampala or Entebbe. before catching your night/Morning flight
